Libraries Rock!

This week I had the opportunity to accompany Ryan to one of the presentations he gives to local libraries. It was terrific to see young kids getting excited about comics, but to be honest I sort of expected that. What surprised me and warmed my heart was the librarians' enthusiasm. From the lady who remembered coming to the Apple back in the day and buying EC reprints for herself, to the young man who said he was going to seek out the Essential Silver Surfer TPB, to the friendly guy who had actually read my Batman: LOTDK issues, these are really terrific, dedicated people who love comics and want to share that love with others through the library. They listen to what their readers want and go out and get it. So if you haven't been to your local library since you got that high-speed modem, go back...and thank the people who work their for their dedication! And if you have books you no longer need, see if they might want them, because their budgets aren't what they should be.
And buy my Union Jack miniseries in October! (See, I couldn't be completely unselfish for an entire blog entry!) |
